Weight = 95.2kg
Height = 1.69cm
BMI = 33.3 = Morbid Obesity
Dear Mr. Blog,
I have been faithfully commited in keeping to my exercise schedule but guilty to having succumbed to food cravings several times.
The good news is I exercise at least 3 times a week now and have increased my cardiovascular fitness exponentially. I can run non-stop on the treadmill for 40 minutes at the speed of 7 km/h, which I am very proud now. I intend to keep this routine for the next 3 months and then increase the speed to 10km/h so that I can participate again in 10km runs without having to walk and finish it within 1 hour. The last time I ran a 10km run was the MBSA run and I took about 1 hour 40 minutes to complete - it was because I walked almost 60% of the course. It was more like MBSA 10km walk rather than run (hehe.. so unfit, then). The trainers at Clark Hatch has been very encouraging and helpful, which I appreciate as well.
The bad news is when my wife cooks yummy food or when we go out to eat, I tend to go overboard. For instance last night she cooked shell macaroni with white sauce and prawns, some boiled potatoes sprinkled with olive oil and lime, and me favourite golden roasted chicken. YUMMY! I wallopped so much I still feel guilty today. :(
And the last pig-out I had was when I walloped my huge piece of Sirloin Steak and Lyana's unfinished Chicken Maryland at Victoria Station last week. Gosh, I feel like vommitting after that because I was supper stuffed. But they were so yummy. A big "boo" there for me.
I'm already enjoying exercising again but food craving is going to be the hard one to fight right now. I know the math to losing weight is simple - make output more than input = burn more calories than you take in. But it's going to be slow weight loss until I build strength to resist indulging on all those yummy food.
Wish me willpower strength to resist, Mr. Blog.

it's this kind of gesture that counts
Yesterday, Steve, Ruslan and myself were doing a succession planning meeting with Talisman Malaysia's senior management in Impiana Hotel. We spent the whole day there.
Today after a meeting, I found this bar of Mars chocolate on my desk. "Who put this here?" I asked Ros. "Tak tahu", she said. Not wanting to waste food (hehehe), I unwrapped and ate it.

Half-way through the chocolate, Mr. Executive Vice President himself popped by my room door and asked if I enjoyed the chocolate. "It was for your effort and energy during the meeting yesterday" said Mr. Paul Blakeley.
After checking with Melati, it seems that the EVP himself 'descended' down from his office and put the chocolate bar on my table. Well ain't that quaint? It's this kind of things that count for me.
Thanks, Paul. I really appreciate it.

kids - lovely aren't they?

Aneesa can crawl now and she recognizes people already. She can differentiate strangers and will crawl towards us when her name is called. :)
Lyana in turn can already count from 1 - 10. She can even say my name correctly but after several lessons. It was so funny to hear Lyana pronounced my full name as "Wan two-three Azad" at first. Hahah.. obviously influenced by the Sesame Street VCD that she watches everyday in learning how to count. Yeah, I know. "Azrizul" would be tongue twister for many kids.
Love you Aneesa & Lyana.

Zephyr 750 - version 2.0
Finally, after almost 2 months undergoing engine overhaul, parts replacement and full body repainting, my Zephyr is ready.
I collected it at lunch time yesterday, courtesy of Ruslan and his Honda CBR600, who sent me to Sunny Cycle. The bill was a whopping RM3,311.70 but not a single cent discount was entertained. "Sudah manyak murah ini, wooo..." went Sunny when I asked for a discount. Apalagi, credit card la. Berapa bulan baru boleh habis bayar ni?
He then continued, "Lu punya motor sekarang manyak sidap wooo." Indeed, my Zephyr now feels like a new bike. It is very smooth with minimal engine clutter noise and the power has increased too. Acceleration is now more instantaneous and 'violent'. Roughly, I think it can do 0-100km/h in about 4 seconds.
Before this, my Zephyr could hardly breach 190km/h but yesterday I sped to 200km/h and the bike can still go faster. However, I got scared because my Zephyr wobbled at that speed due to the worn out rear absorbers - need to change those next. Maybe a set of Kayaba/Showa or Ohlins.
Anyway, here's me bike, version 2.0 in Menara Citibank's parking lot.

Ain't that gorgeous? I know, I know...the rear absorbers need to go.

Blue's clues.
And the bike craze carries on. I decided to indulge myself and bought new riding boots and gloves. The old Fieldsheer (local brand) boots cost me RM400 when it was custom made then and has served me for 4 years. It has seen one major accident with my ZZR500 and the recent spill. The scratch and bruise marks were proof of its legacy in protecting my legs. The Fieldsheer boots will now be my back-up boots. The current Fieldsheer gloves will also see more of the store walls than my hands, since it started serving me 3 years ago.
In the old Fieldsheer boots' place is a new pair of Gaerne sports riding boots. This is the least 'space-cop-gaban' look I could find. That's for the feet. For the hands, I bought an Alpine Star glove... again the least high-tech look but with good protection. It burned my credit card at RM920. Gilos aku ni!
At least I'm not spending them on useless stuff (trying to justify this outrageous spending. Jangan marah, Sayang. Cantik cincin?! Hehehe..).

For the hands and feet. They are important, you know - ask the amputees.

kelumpang vacation
Last weekend, MBSA's public health unit that Yanti is heading, did a 'family day' event in Kelumpang Resort, Tanjung Malim.
The place was about 1 hours drive from Shah Alam, approximately 80km in distance. The place was nice, better than Sungai Gabai. We stayed in Tempua 1 chalet, just 10 steps away from the river. Cool!

The water was really chilly in the morning, so we just dipped ourselves and played water without swimming. Lyana was shivering in her wet suit. Kesian dia, because she loves to swim but the water was just too cold.

After the barbeque dinner, it was nice to see Yanti's birthday was celebrated by her staff. She got to blew the candles of this huge cake. Lyana and Aneesa loved the cakes too.
On top of that, Yanti's lucky draw number won her a bicycle - the 3rd prize. What are the odds that me and Yanti both won 3rd prize in a lucky draw? Alhamdulillah, rezki dari Ilahi. Now both of us can ride together at night and weekends. ;)
I would recommend the place. If you're not staying overnight, the entry fee is only RM5.00 per person.

Fitness Report # 2
Weight = 96.5kg (Still Omigosh! But sudah turun sket)
Height = 1.69cm
BMI = 33.8 = Morbid Obesity (Still giler babs! macam babs!)
Dear Mr. Blog,
It has been an encouraging start towards my ultimate weight loss ambition. I've been getting plenty of support and encouragement from family and friends. I am really glad getting their support to boost my 'wobbly' willpower and craving towards food. I hope they will all continue to support me until I'm strong enough to handle it on my own. My sincere thanks to everyone for your support.
It's amazing what determination can do. My bicycle was finally being ridden again last Saturday since it last went into hibernation for so long I can't remember when I last rode it. I've also managed to taichi many attempts to indulge myself since the day I made that vow, Net-wide. Especially when the 'opportunity' to wallop like there's no tomorrow at the buffet breakfast in Sofitel Senai yesterday. Yanti also noticed that I'm eating less now at home and 'warns' me when I'm trying to get a second helping of rice. "A-a-aaa.. Abang?!" That was enough for me to stop short at holding the senduk nasi only and not scoop extra rice. Nevertheless, I'm thankful for that warning.
Today, I had a hearty breakfast of lettuce, celery and potato bread. At lunch time, it will be my first session with a professional trainer at Clark Hatch to help me measure my fitness level and structure a weight loss exercise program. I was informed that I will need to follow this program for several weeks until I meet up with the trainer again for him to measure my performance and rework a more rigorous exercise program.
Wish me strength and endurance, Mr. Blog.

Fitness Report # 1
Weight = 97.2kg (Omigosh!)
Height = 1.69cm
BMI = 34.0 = Morbid Obesity (Giler babs! macam babs!)
Dear Mr. Blog,
I am at the heaviest weight in my life. I believe I had more than enough to eat already and this unhealthy lifestyle, lack of willpower over food cravings and the "I enjoy food very much" is too lame an excuse. Enough is enough and I am determined that I don't want to be a fatso any longer. Whatever I do, I will never allow my weight to ever increase again.
The time to change is now. My target ideal weight is 66kg. I know I have to make sacrifices and I will do it for my own sake.
I will exercise at least every other day for a minimum of 30 minutes, eat less fatty food and will not succumb to food cravings anymore.
I promise to reach my ideal weight of 66kg by 31 December 2006, Insya Allah.
Determinedly,
Azad
