merdeka ride

On Merdeka day, we decided to enjoy the freedom in Malaysia by riding to Kuala Selangor. We want to see Bukit Melawati, which was once a fort to direct ships with its lighthouse and also defend the river mouth from raiders going upstream into Selangor. The ride itenary was :

0800 : Gather at Sungai Buluh R&R. Refuel bike and stomach.

At Sungai Buluh R&R, after refuelling.

0900 : Ride begins. I was elected the ride leader since I was the only one who has been to Bukit Melawati.

0945 : Reached Kuala Selangor, and base of Bukit Melawati. Alas, it was closed to all vehicles on Sat, Sun & Public Holidays. This closure was to avoid congestion on the hill, thus a tram service was provided to take tourist up. However, we negotiated with the gate keepers and they allowed us to ride up. Nice!

At the foothill. See the tram at the back.

At the peak of Bukit Melawati.

Me and my Zephyr.

1035 : We rode to Taman Alam, a nature park which is just next to Bukit Melawati and took more photos. Nice place where you can walk or ride bicycles through the mangrove jungle.

One for the album at the nature park, Taman Alam.

1100 : Rode through a chinese fishing village. Too hot to take pictures.

1115 : Stopped at a mamak in stall to refuel our stomach - again. Nan and teh ais gulped.

1130 : We then rode to Kg Kuantan which is the kelip-kelip jetty. There, we saw some boys fishing and this was the product - udang galah.

1200 : Finally, we rode home through Batang Berjuntai and Ijok.

1245 : Reached home, wet. It rained along the way.

Lovely ride. :)
